I must confess, I do love a good coffee table book... well actually I love books in general, but when books and interiors can be combined, I'm compelled to love books even more.
But why do we call them Coffee Table Books? - I have been asked that question quite a few times since I launched Copper & Plush and it made me wonder.
Coffee Table Books have been defined as "large, expensive, lavishly illustrated books, intended especially for casual reading" and whilst this resonates with the underlying premise that these books are an aesthetically pleasing addition to your coffee table, they seem to be simply dismissed as superficial.
I cannot disagree more! These books can be both elegant and full of inspiring and amazing content. They not only display your interests and passions to your guests, but are also a beautiful way for you to accumulate knowledge of the world.

Tips on how to Decorate with Books
1. Stacking
Stacking books is a great way to add an intimate and lived-in touch to a room. In addition to stacking books on coffee tables, you can stack books on a console or a bedside table to create a modern library.
These books can also act as a base for decorative accessories such as candles, plant pots or either to elevate a table lamp.
When stacking, always place books from largest to smallest for a well-balanced and elegant look.
2. Colour
I do love a neutral space myself but sometimes you may want to spice things up and add a flash of colour to your home. Choosing a bold coloured book can be an inexpensive way to add colour in any room.
3. Fill The Gaps
Layered horizontally, books can fill up a large space and add an interesting, extra surface to decorate. If placed vertically, they can add gaps and add height to a small object or setting. In bookshelves, you can use books horizontally and vertically for variation.
4. Location Location
We don’t want to be hiding these lovely books on a shelf or drawer. Instead, place them in a prominent location in your home such as a sideboard in the living room, a dresser or, of course, on a coffee table.
5. Ditch the Jackets
The current trend is to bare these books and opting for a more textural feel by removing their jackets.
